Save money, help others.
CommonKindness is a refreshing new coupon site that contains rare and valuable coupons and gives 20% of its revenues to nonprofit organizations every time one of its coupons is redeemed.
The site was founded by Sarah Schloemer and Andrew Martin (founding chair of Annie’s Macaroni and Cheese and Smartfood Popcorn) to help create a new sustainable funding source for America’s nonprofit organizations, which find themselves in need due to prolonged global economic challenges. Sadly, more nonprofits collapsed in 2011 than in any year since the Great Depression.
Instead of consumers having to dig into their pocketbooks to make a contribution, CommonKindness coupons allow redeemers to make money when they make a charitable contribution (assuming Benjamin Franklin was right when he said “a penny saved is a penny earned”).
The way it works is simple: Shoppers go to http://www.CommonKindness.com, register and designate their favorite nonprofit from the user-friendly directory. Then they print out coupons for items they typically use or want to try, and head to the store. CommonKindness gives 20% of the coupons’ redemption revenues to the designated nonprofit.
